A: Everyone has heard the saying of "the terrible twos" but until you parent the two year old you may never get the full effect. I have received questions about how long the terrible twos behavior can last, actually it can last between ages 2-4 years of age. The two year old is known as the explorer who explores things by touching, climbing, and the like. In this age stage, also comes the temper tantrums, screaming, and crying. Establishing ground rules are very important for this age group. Here are a few tips for taming the two year olds.
Start by baby proofing your house. The two year old will start more on grabbing and touching everything that seems curious to them. Some things they know not to touch. Keep all things that can be harmful or dangerous to your child put away and locked.
Teach your child the rules in a way they can understand. Two year olds thinks everything is a game, so teach the rules in a fun but serious manner. Write the rules down, sing them, and let them repeat the rules and explain the consequences for breaking the rules.
Use discipline actions for temper tantrums. Using effective discipline actions for temper tantrums will help to eliminate these actions. You have to stay firm on the discipline actions with a two year old and establish your role as the parent, because they will push to see how much they can get away with.
I hope these few tips will help with taming your two year old and establishing some ground rules. If you have any questions or comments feel free to leave them in the comments section and I will respond back. Thanks and God Bless.
Today's post is about Easter, of course. As a christian parent I feel it's important to let children know the real meaning of Easter. It's fun to see the cute bunnies, eat eggs and candy, but what is Easter really about? I have this email that was sent to me about the true meaning of Easter that I would like to share (the author is unknown). Please be aware the reading is graphic so pick and choose how you talk to your children this reading is for you as a parent. I hope you all enjoy it and really get something from it.
Jesus' Death

At the age of 33, Jesus was condemned to the death penalty, at the time crucifixion was the "worst" death. Only the worst criminals condemned to be crucified. Yet it was even more dreadful for Jesus, for unlike other criminals condemned to death by crucifixion, Jesus was nailed to the cross by His hands and feet, rather than tied........ Each nail was 6 to 8 inches long. The nails were driven into His wrist. Not into His palms as is commonly portrayed. There's a tendon in the wrist that extends to the shoulder. The Roman guards knew that when the nails were being hammered into the wrist, that tendon would tear and break, forcing Jesus to use His back muscles to support himself, so that He could breathe. Both of His feet were nailed together. Thus He was forced to support Himself on the single nail that impaled His feet to the cross. Jesus could not support himself with His legs for long because of the pain, so He was forced to alternate between arching His back and using his legs just to continue to breathe. Imagine the struggle, the pain, the suffering, the courage. Jesus endured this reality for over 3 hours. Yes over 3 hours! Can you imagine this kind of suffering? A few minutes before He died, Jesus stopped bleeding. He was simply pouring water from His wounds. From common images we see wounds to His hands and feet and even the spear wound to His side...... But do we remember the many wounds made to His body. A hammer driving large nails through his wrists, the feet overlapped and a nail hammered through the arches, then a Roman guard piercing His side with a spear. And..... Before the nails and the spear, Jesus was whipped and beaten. The whipping was so severe that it tore the flesh from His body. The beating so horrific that His face was torn and his beard ripped from His face. The crown of thorns (two to three inch thorns) cut deeply into His scalp. Most men would not have survived this torture. He had no more blood to bleed out, only water poured from His wounds. The human adult body contains about 3.5 liters (just less than a gallon) of blood. Jesus poured all 3.5 liters of his blood; He had three nails hammered into His body; a crown of thorns on His head and, beyond that, a Roman solider who stabbed a spear into His Chest.... All these without mentioning the humiliation He passed after carrying His own Cross for almost 2 kilometers, while the crowd spat in his face and threw stones (the cross beam was almost 30kg of weight, to which His hands were nailed).,Jesus had to endure this experience, So that you may have free access to God. So that your sins can be "washed" away. All of them, with no exception! JESUS CHRIST DIED..... FOR YOU!

A: Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder is a mental disorder. More children today are being diagnosed than adults. Symptoms include unable to focus, excessive talking, very hyper, in some children encopresis ( voluntary and involuntary passing of stool), and there are many other symptoms. As a parent with a ADHD child times can become very overwhelming, you feel you want to help but not sure how. A child with ADHD experience problems in school, low self esteem, feeling of frustration and anger. From personal experience, my oldest son was diagnosed with ADHD at 7 years old. As a parent I felt confused, guilty, and relieved all at the same time. I did finally had the answers to why my son was acting so aggressively towards others, having trouble in school, and constantly seeking attention. I noticed his symptoms since age 3. Treatment for ADHD include therapy and medication depending on the type of ADHD. Children can be diagnosed with just attention deficit problems, just hyperactivity problems or combined. My child was diagnosed with combined, which can be very difficult to handle. If you decide to use medication as the treatment for your child, be sure to research the medication and monitor your child. Here are a few of my personal tips I found successful when helping a child with ADHD.

Repetition is very important. Because ADHD is mental, which cause the mind to work overtime can them to think of multiple things at once, ADHD children can be very forgetful even if you just told them something a minute before. You must constantly repeat things over until they remember and start to focus.

Encourage and praise your child for accomplishments. Most ADHD kids start to feel worthless and different because of their disability. They try and try very hard to focus but sometimes they just can't, which makes them very frustrated. Encouraging your child gives them hope and can brighten their day.

Stay on top of your child's treatment. To help your child's treatment. To help your child's school and social development your child's treatment is everything. Whether you choose medication, therapy, or both always keep the appointments, you will soon see major improvements.

Communicate with your child's school and teachers. Your child's school officials will be able to help your child's education tremendously. Cooperation from both the parent and school officials will greatly improve your child's education and self esteem.

Communicate with your child. Talking to you child will help you get a better understanding of your child and what they may be going through mentally. It can also give you the questions you can ask to your child's health care provider.

I hope these tips may help you better understand your child and the ways to help your child. If you have any other questions you want me to answer feel free to leave them in the comments. Thanks and God Bless.
A: Potty training can be a very difficult and time consuming task. Some parents say the difficulty depends on the child's gender. Nonetheless to say, potty training doesn't have to be difficult at all. I have found some techniques that makes potty training a breeze. Right now I have a 3 year old son and a 2 year old daughter, and well potty training was not difficult at all using some of the techniques I will share with you. I will also share my resources from 3 different books I read and which I incorporated all three techniques to have successful potty training experience. Here are my potty training tips.

Don't get your child use to wearing pull ups. Pull ups is just a slight step up to diapers. The longer you have your child in diapers or pull ups, the harder your potty training experience will be. Mentally your child will still feel its o.k to potty themselves because of the wearing the diapers or pull ups. As soon as the age of wearing pull ups is needed the time for the potty is needed.

Making potty training fun, exciting, ana rewarding to your child. Children will get more excited if you make a game and reward your child's accomplishments.

Encorage your child be letting them know they have potty trained themselves. Giving your child praise gives them the feeling of accomplishment, which makes them happy and wanting more praise.
These are a few tips to make potty training more fun and easy. Here are the 3 books as my resources I used personally with my children. These 3 books are written by other parenting experts.

Book #1: Written by a mother of 4 and home daycare owner "Start Potty Training". You can find a video introduction and the book at this link: http://6e293fpf-wcy8lao200ryp5yfg.hop.clickbank.net/

Book #2: Potty Training by Noon is another great book that gives fun and exciting ways to potty train your child. You can find testimonial and the book at this link: http://e391c6fc-zhz6w0drysqoc-7xv.hop.clickbank.net/

Book #3: Written by a child psychologist and father of 4 boys, "How to Potty Train Your Child In Hours", is a great potty training book! He uses the H.E.A.R.T Method.
A: Every parent dreads the day when they have to give the big talk to their children. It can be more frustrating not knowing when is the right time to have the talk. Well, I want to tell you, talk as soon as possible. Here's the reason. On television more and more sexual content are being exposed to the public more than ever. Then there are more reports of these sick and sadistic sexual predators who target such young children. Now not to mention your children peers, kids are getting younger now with the knowledge of sex these days. Here are a few tips on how and when to give the big talk.

Give the talk progressively as early as they can understand. Start to prepare your children on the understanding of their body as soon as possible.

Start as early as 2 years old, when they are able to understand about their "no-no zone". There are just so many sick people out there targeting the innocent children. You have to prepare your children for anything. Let them know there private area and teach them no one should touch it, and that's no one.

Get informed on what your child does know about sex, be prepared for the answer. When my oldest son was 7 years old (now he's 9), I ask him what he knew about sex, his answer shocked me and he said he learned from his friends at school. He knew all the basics at 7 years old!

When talking to your children be open and honest. It's best to be that way with your children because they will find out from somewhere and it's best to be informed by you as the parent so they may get the correct information and not the wrong information.

These are a few tips to get your conversation started with your children. Don't be nervous just breath and relax, you will be happy and relieved you had the conversation. If you have any questions or comments you want me to answer feel free to leave them.
A: Due to the world's view on self image, children are now becoming more aware of their body image. More children these days dream and request to alter their body through cosmetic surgery more than ever. They envy celebrities, feeling their bodies are more perfect. Children are willing to take drastic measures to change the way they look, even if it can harm their health. Due to these facts, there are more children dealing with self esteem issues today. To improve their esteem it needs to start at home and more importantly, it needs to start with you as the parent. Here are a few tips to help with your child's self esteem.

As the parent you should have high self esteem. Lead by example is very true when you have children. If your children see you altering your body through cosmetic procedures eventually so will they. Your children look up to you and they will only do what they see and hear.

Always praise your children on their beauty and intellegence. Everyone is made through the eyes of God, and he made no mistake. God equipped us all with a certain gift and we should all acknowledge it.

Give your child some encouraging words when they are feeling doubts or loneliness. I have written a book published at amazon.com. My book "Be Happy, God Made Us Different", gives advice on how encouraging words can make a difference. Encouraging your child with a inspirational quote lifts up their spirit and gives them hope.

Self esteem problems is a big problem in America today, but if you start with your family and live a healthier lifestyle, you and your family can make a difference. For more information on my book "Be Happy, God Made Us Different", you can visit here http://www.amazon.com/-/e/B00B2GP7Y0
If you have any questions or comments feel free to leave them.
A: When it comes to disciplinary actions, the topic becomes controversial. There are different and sometimes weird responses on how to discipline your child. But let’s face it, you do need to set some boundaries with your children and let them know you are the parent and they are the children and demand your respect. To discipline your child you need to challenge their mind not always their behind because they don’t always remember the reason only the pain. Here are some tips set in different age groups because disciplinary actions must change as they get older. I call these tips The New Time Out.

Age 1-4: You must start to set boundaries as early as possible to establish your role as a parent. During this age, you will be faced with all the temper tantrums and screaming. To discipline these actions, get your child to sit down, Indian style and be quiet. Always let them know why they are in time out. Talk to them and interact with them, to get them to listen and understand their actions. Then leave them in that quiet place for at least 5 min., but not to far out of your eye sight. Most likely they will try to get up and cry and if they do repeat the process and the time will automatically start over until that are able to sit still for at least 5 min.

Age 5-9: In this time out age group, things change slightly. When you discipline this age group, the time out period can last a day or two. Electronics and video games are put away and chores and books takes the place. Your child should be sent in the room, doors open where you can watch them and they may read , do homework, color, or do the chores they are assigned. Don’t forget to talk to your child about their actions and explain the difference between good and bad actions and the consequences behind them.

Age 10 and up: Disciplinary actions for this age group changes a little bit more. For this age group, time out can last up to a week. The child is sent to their room, doors open unless changing clothes or something private and their back open again so you may watch them. No electronics of any kind. They may do their chores, read a book, do homework, or something educational. Time out is about thinking about their actions. During the course of their time out period have them to write out their actions, how they need to improve their actions, and why they need to change their actions. Have the short essay to be due at the end of their time out period and make them read it to you and you both talk about it in order for the time out period to end.

Disciplinary actions is a must and these are effective ways to discipline your children without spanking or torture. It gets their minds engaged to the actions they have made and make them realize the consequence of their actions. I hope these tips are a big help to you and your family. If you have any questions or comments feel free to leave them. A:Having a social life and time for yourself is difficult as a parent. Taken from experience, when I gave birth to my last son, I felt all my time and energy should be spent on my kids in order to be a good parent. Well, I was wrong. Instead, I was dealing with major stress, not able to mange time at all, and health and mental problems. Every parent should have some “me time” and social life, even if it’s limited. Don’t think and feel your kids will be your best friend because you need to be a parent not their best friend. They will have their own friends as they get older. Here are a few tips to get your “me time”:

Relax and socialize while your kids take a nap or go to bed at night. Call your friends via phone or internet while they sleep. You will be able to vent some stress from the long day and catch up on some things.

Get a babysitter at least twice a month and go do something you enjoy. Go to the movies, out to a restaurant or anything just enjoy yourself. Take your significant other or friend to socialize with.

Go with a friend who also have kids and make a playdate. As your kids are playing, you can also socialize as parents and you both will have something in common to talk about.

For relaxation engage your children in yoga. Yoga is a great way to relax and exercise all in one. As they participate it also relaxes them and uses some energy as well.

Social life as a parent can be challenging but everyone needs it. Just because you are a parent doesn’t mean you have to shelter yourself, it doesn’t benefit you or your children.
A: Nap time and bed time can be a challenge when dealing with small children. But I will tell you, there is a way. First, you have to understand your children body. Children have a lot more energy than adults, so it takes a lot more energy to drain. Here are a few tips to drain their energy to make them sleepy and ready to rest.

Before you prepare them for nap or bedtime, take them for a walk or let them play outside. Exercise is a great way to use up some energy and get some fresh air. By the time they're done they will be ready to rest.

Read them a book or the Bible. For some odd reason listening to a book can make anyone tired. It will calm them down and make them ready to relax.

Put your children on a sleeping schedule. Timing their body for bed is a great way to get them to sleep without problems. If they're not on a schedule, it will be hard at first but be persistent and you will get them to sleep in no time.

Play relaxation music as they lie down. If you still have some trouble to get them to relax and lay down, play music that's calm and soothing such as yoga music, and lie down with them. It usually calms them and causes them to sleep. Just make sure you don't fall asleep as well!

I hope these tips will help you in any way to help your little ones. If you have any more questions feel free to leave your comments or questions and I will answer them in a blog post. Thank You and God Bless.
